5 Life-Changing Habits for Happiness and Success

5 Life-Changing Habits for Happiness and Success

Do you have any bad habits? If so, you know all too well all the negative impact they have on your day-to-day. How about instilling a few positive changes that can generate happiness and success instead? Try implementing these five life-changing habits and see the impact it can have on your life.

Give Something up for 30 Days

This is a big one. For just one month, try giving up an unhealthy habit you currently have, such as:

  • Smoking
  • Drinking alcohol
  • Coffee, pop or anything caffeinated
  • Fast food
  • Sugar
  • Chocolate

These are just some examples. Try breaking a bad habit for just one month. How do you feel along the way? Headaches, cravings? What’s the end result? Do you feel any better? Did your health improve? If your 30-day habit change was successful, pat yourself on the back.

Exercising

Do you already work out regularly? Consider adding something new to your routine. If you’re a couch potato, find a way to get moving. Begin walking every day or take the plunge and use the Peloton down at the gym. Bring this good habit into your life to help you shed pounds, boost cardiovascular health and combat depression. Always check with your doc first and start off slow if need be.

Sticking to a Budget

Do you find yourself with no money at the end of the week? Maybe you’re burdened with credit card debt and overdraft fees. It’s time to create a strict budget and stick to it. Stop spending money frivolously and work on paying off all that high-interest debt. Review your progress every month and revise your plan as necessary.

Journaling

Documenting your day, including both the highs and lows, can be beneficial to making positive life changes. Try journaling for 30 days, then reflect. What were some recurring habits you discovered? Eating out too often? Binge drinking on the weekends? Writing it all down can help put bad habits into a clearer perspective. Try replacing bad habits with positive actions. Keep journaling all year and see how well the changes work.

Waking up Early

Still don’t have enough time in the day to get things done? Try getting in the habit of rising early each morning, say 5 a.m. This gives you more time to tackle your to-do list backlog. The result? A pleasant sense of accomplishment at the end of the day.

Doing one positive thing on a consistent basis can be life changing. Simple changes can turn into lifelong habits that leave a lasting impact on your life. Give some of these ideas a try and see what transforms!
